After School Art Event Makes for Unique Gift Opportunity

By Trina Runner on September 20, 2014 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Nothing is as precious as something your child created. On Monday, Sept. 22, you will have a chance to
make permanent keepsakes out of their one-of-a kind art.

Bridgeport High School DECA will be sponsoring Square One Art from 3-5 p.m. in the BHS cafeteria for students in grades K-5. The program will provide a unique opportunity for making personalized gifts for the holidays.

Inspired by their creativity, participants will be guided through art projects that will be sent to Square 1 Art Company. The company will send the students free stickers of their one-of-a kind creations and provide parents with an assortment of gift items they can buy with their child’s personalized art on them.  Items include phone and iPad cases, mugs, ornaments, magnets and more. Samples of the product will be on display during the the event. It is a great way to preserve childhood memories and provide friends and relatives with an extraordinary gift.

Students from the marketing and art departments at Bridgeport High School will be assisting the young artists.  The program is a result of the current educational movement that links art education with improved test scores and concentration levels.  It seems the benefits of art far surpass simply improving creativity, but help train the brain for problem solving and application processes.

The program will begin at 3 p.m. in the cafeteria at BHS and snacks will be provided.  The cost is $5 to participate in the event. Questions can be sent to bridgeportdeca@gmail.com.
