"America's Got Talent" Winner Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. to Play Robinson Grand

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on February 21, 2020 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center is welcoming Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. to its historic stage on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at 8 p.m. for a night of crooning as the crowd experiences favorites from artists in the ranks of Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Cole Porter, and Frank Sinatra.

Originally from Logan County, West Virginia, Landau found himself homeless at the age of 19. At his rock bottom, he found singing to be his only respite. After getting robbed and with almost nothing to his name, Landau auditioned for America’s Got Talent in 2010 in one of the most surprising auditions of that season. Week to week, he showed the judges triumphant crooner songs and grew to be America’s favorite with over 14 million people voting for the winner of America’s Got Talent 2011. Landau’s finale number was “My Way”by his idol, Frank Sinatra.

Things look quite different from the WV native’s humble origins…over 100 sold-out concerts across three continents, from Caesars Palace to the Apollo Theater and all points in between. A debut CD from a Grammy-winning producer that hit the top of the Billboard charts. More than a million dollars raised for children’s and homeless charities via his holiday CD and personal appearances. Performing duets with childhood heroes Patti Labelle and Glenn Leonard, the former lead vocalist from The Temptations. An international television audience of over 100 million were touched by his amazing life story. And it all started in a very small town with a man who possessed a big dream and an even bigger voice.

“Landau has been a huge request from our patrons and the regional community,” states RGPAC Executive Director, Ryan Tolley. “We have remained in contact with his management since early 2019 and are truly proud to invite this amazingly talented WV native back to Clarksburg for his inaugural performance on the Robinson Grand stage.”

Guests have the option of three different pricing tiers: Tier 1 (VIP) tickets are $49 (includes taxes and fees) and include a pre-show Meet & Greet with Landau where patrons can get pictures and autographs with the performer. Tier 2 tickets are $35 and located on the main level and balcony loges whereas Tier 3 tickets are $20 and located in the balcony.
