The Bridgeport High School Danceline scored an overall outstanding rating at a recent two-day Eastern Dance Association camp held at the Bridgeport High School gymnasium.

“I’m really pleased with the team,” said Danceline Coach Cindy Timms Pulice. “It was two really intense days and they really rose to the occasion – and had fun, too. It was a good team bonding experience for them.”

The 16-member team spent Friday and Saturday working on new material, led by two EDA instructors.

“The girls learned two hip hop routines, two pom routines and a kick routine,” Pulice said.

At the conclusion of EDA Camp, the team was evaluated on four of those routines, scoring outstanding ratings on three and a superior rating on one – earning an overall outstanding team rating.

Serving as co-captains for this year’s team are BHS seniors Kylie Frame and Megan Blount. The team also includes juniors Madalyn Aloi, Kaylissa Lynch, Sarah Reppert, Hanna Stolzenfelz and Emily Trickett; sophomores Autumn Feist and Sarah Momen and freshmen Erica Balon, Taylor Frame, Sydny Guy, McKenzie Kress, Sophia Lopez, Kim Morris and Madison Smith.

As the Bridgeport Middle School team earned the county championship in 2011, 2012 and 2013, this year’s freshman class brought with it a great deal of talent, Pulice said.

Serving as the team’s assistant coach this year is Suzanne Pomeroy Randolph, a BHS teacher and former dance student of Pulice’s.

In addition to the outstanding team rating, five members of the BHS danceline received bids to perform at pro bowl games during the 2014-2015 season. Earning that honor were Kylie Frame, Megan Blount, Emily Trickett, Madalyn Aloi and Sophia Lopez.

The BHS Danceline performs at home varsity basketball games, as well as some soccer, jayvee and freshman football games.

Their routines add a well-received element of entertainment to the games at which they perform, Pulice said. The style of choreography which they perform is similar to collegiate and professional dance teams, thus providing good experience for potential future dance endeavors.

This is the seventh season for the BHS Danceline.

The girls will debut their season in late-August, likely at an Aug. 26 or Aug. 27 soccer game, Pulice said.
