Bridgeport Parks & Rec Easter Egg Hunt Rescheduled for Thursday

By Julie Perine on April 14, 2014 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Originally scheduled for Tuesday, the Bridgeport Parks and Recreation annual Easter Egg Hunt has been rescheduled for 2 p.m. Thurs., April 17 at Bridgeport City Park.

That decision was made late-Monday morning and was based on the inclement forecast for Tuesday and the much more desirable one for Thursday, said Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Deputy Director Joe Shuttleworth.

Up for grabs are 4,000 candy-filled plastic eggs. In bright colors, the eggs will be spread among the grassy area of the baseball field.

Kids will be divided into two age groups – 3 and under and ages 4-5 – and upon sounding of a go signal, they will canvas the areas, gathering as many eggs as possible. Included will be a couple dozen golden eggs, which can be cashed in for special prizes.

The Easter Bunny will be on hand for meet-and-greet and photo ops.

Bridgeport Parks & Recreation purchases pre-filled eggs, a service of a sheltered workshop labor force which utilizes handicapped workers.

Children can bring their own baskets or use provided plastic bags. Shuttleworth recommends early arrival to secure parking and be ready for the hunt.
