Fall/Winter Issue of WV Weddings Has Bridgeport Embellishment

By Julie Perine on October 11, 2014 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The Fall/Winter 2014 issue of WV Weddings has some Bridgeport embellishment. A two-page spread features the Oct. 26, 2013 wedding of Megan Nicole Hefner and Brian Matthew Bobby. The bride is a lifelong resident of the city, where she and her groom – who she met while attending West Virginia University – were married at Simpson Creek Baptist Church.

The issue also lists winners of the Best of WV Weddings Awards, which include Bloom’s Florist and Rebecca Devono Photography, both of Bridgeport and Oliverio’s Bridal & Prom Boutique and Tuscan Sun Spa & Salon of Clarksburg’s Eastpointe and New Pointe shopping plazas, respectively.

With bridesmaids in satin champagne and groomsmen in basic black, the nuptials of Hefner and Bobby showcased a little West Virginia flair – from the blue delphinium tucked into the bouquets to the singing of “Take Me Home Country Roads” at the reception, held at Bridgeport Conference Center.

“I wanted to use navy and we added gold to give it an elegant feel, but I didn’t really mean for it to turn out gold and blue, but when it was all said and done, the colors were appropriate and it is neat the way it came together,” Megan Bobby said.

She’s happy that her wedding has been captured in West Virginia Weddings, a unique keepsake of her special day in a magazine that showcases her beautiful home state.

There is a particular moment which comes to mind when Bobby thinks of her wedding day.

“I have to say that is walking down the aisle and not only seeing Brian, but all the guests and family after all the chaos that came before it,” she said.

That defining moment was even more special because of the ivory, strapless A-line Romona Keveza wedding dress she had chosen.

Getting married in her home church, where her parents Tammy and Greg Hefner exchanged their own vows, was important to her – as was showing off her hometown to her new family.

The second annual Best of WV Weddings awards were chosen by readers. Categories included Invitations & Stationery, Bridal Shops, Tuxedos & Accessories, Photography & Video Services, Registries & Unique Gifts, Wedding Expos, Best Historic Venue & Best Resort Venue, Catering, Beauty & Wellness, Cakes & Sweets, Entertainment, Florists, Cosmetic Dentistry, Jewelers, Hair & Makeup, Rentals & Party Supplies/Wedding Planning & Coordinating, Best Hotel or Conference/Convention Center Venue and Home Furnishings.

Owner of Bloom’s Florist, Cara Ewald said she is thrilled to receive the Best of West Virginia Weddings florist award for the second year.
“It reminds us of the outcome of all our hard work and how important it is to the brides,” she said. “Our goal is to make every event memorable and beautiful for the couple. When we meet, I really try to understand their vision and personalities. I get that they love blush, but hate pink. Winning the award really matters and lets us know Blooms is on the right track.”

Even though they’re nearing the end, the staff of Blooms is still in the throes of wedding season. While putting in long hours and late nights – and chasing down flowers that didn’t arrive in the correct shade - it’s wonderful to be chosen for this award in the midst of all the chaos, Ewald said.
