With 915.7 out of a possible 1,050 points, the Bridgeport High School Danceline captured first place in Saturday’s West Virginia Danceline Competition held at Lincoln High School and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Clarksburg.

Senior members and Co-Captains Megan Blount and Kylie Frame said they were ecstatic to hear their team’s name announced not only the grand champion award, but also for first place finishes in hip-hop, jazz, kick, pom and open dance categories. BHS also nabbed the judges’ pick and precision awards.

“Every time they announced our name, Kylie and I looked at each other in amazement and knew this was the year we've been waiting for,” Blount said. “I can't thank my team enough for such a great year and working so hard to achieve the goal Kylie and I were aiming for - sweeping the competition.”

Blount and Frame have danced together since seventh grade.

“After our final routine walking off the floor, Kylie and I hugged and we both lost it due to how well we performed and we have been dancing together since seventh grade,” she said. “There’s no greater feeling than winning every category with a lifetime dance partner.”

She describes the feeling as incredible.

“Going out with a bang my senior year was the best!”

Saturday’s routines were choreographed by Coach Cindy Timms Pulice, Albert Altovilla and senior members of the team. Team members are seniors and co-captains Megan Blount and Kylie Frame, juniors Hannah Stolzenfels, Madelyn Aloi, Emily Trickett, Kaylissa Lynch and Sarah Reppert; sophomores Autumn Fiest and Sarah Momen and freshmen Sydny Guy, Sophie Lopez, Madison Smith, Erica Baylon, Taylor Frame, Mackenzie Kress and Kim Morris.

Winning the showmanship award was North Marion High School. Also competing were Lincoln and Robert C. Byrd.
