Like the crocuses which emerge from the snowy ground, the Meadowbrook Mall Spring Bridal Extravaganza is always a welcome sign of the coming spring.

 

Sponsored by Tuscan Sun Spa & Salon and the Highgate Carriage House, this year’s event is slated for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21.

 

“The bridal event is open to the public and will offer brides everything they need to plan their wedding in one day,” said Robin Urquhart, Meadowbrook Mall marketing director.

 

Vendors will encompass wedding needs from one end of the spectrum to the other; from bridal fashion, flowers, cakes and catering to reception emcees, music and honeymoon destinations.

 

“We also trying to get in new vendors – depending on what’s trending for weddings that year,” Urquhart said. “For example, a lot of brides like the more rustic, country theme right now and I think they’ll find just what they’re looking for with Big Barn Stables that will be here with their horse carriage this year.”

 

The bridal fair is one of the mall’s most popular events. Urquhart said.

 

“The vendors always remark that the brides coming by their tables are serious about planning their weddings,” she said. “The one-day event draws more than 1,000 people each year, which is the reason we’ve been hosting the event for over 13 years.”

 

The first 100 brides to register at the WDTV5 Event Center will receive free swag bags. All registered brides have the chance to win thousands of dollars in door prizes. Courtesy of Clarksburg Travel Service, the grand prize is two round-trip airline tickets from Pittsburgh to Cancun, Mexico or Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

 

Other prizes up for grabs include a Bridgeport Conference Center bridal shower valued at up to $300, a weekend stay for two at Hilton Garden Inn, Clarksburg – with complimentary house champagne or wine, chocolate-covered strawberries and breakfast, a one-night stay and dinner for two at Lakeview Golf Resort & Spa, “A Day Down on the Farm” from Big Barn Staples, $100 Visa gift card from Cruise One, Wellness basket which includes a 60-minute relaxation massage from The Chiropractic Care Center, $50 Atria’s Restaurant gift card from Morgantown Holiday Inn, $50 gift certificate from The Cupcakerie, free half-hour engagement portrait session on location at Roxanna’s Photography, free airbrush makeup application from The Spa at The Waterfront, two Fiesta Ware place settings from Elder-Beerman. Brides must be present to win those prizes.

 

Always a highlight, a bridal and prom fashion show – presented by Oliverio’s Bridal & Prom Boutique – will follow at 2 p.m. after which the grand prize drawings will be held.
