By Trina Runner on November 14, 2015 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

It’s time to roll out the magic carpet and dust off the genie lamp because “Aladdin” is coming to town and students in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade can be a part of the show.  For several years in a row, the Missoula Children’s Theater has commandeered the auditorium at BHS for the week prior to Thanksgiving in order to offer a theatrical masterpiece for the community.

Missoula Theater Company comes complete with the set, costumes, and script in order to pull an entire production together in one week’s time.  Auditions will be held on November 16th from 4:00-6:00p.m. in the BHS Auditorium and there are 50-60 roles available for students. During the week, rehearsals will run from 4:00-6:00p.m. and 6:30-8:30p.m. but not all students are required for all rehearsals.

Show times will be November 21st at 2:00p.m. and 7:00p.m. “It’s such a great opportunity for those who can’t commit to year-round theatrical events,” said Michele Skaggs, local coordinator of the show.  “In just one week, they are on stage performing.”

“Aladdin,” made famous on the Disney big screen, is the tale of a street urchin who discovers a magical lamp while stuck in a cave with his sidekick.  He befriends the Genie inside and uses his wishes to become a prince and win the affections of Princess Jasmine.  The tale is a classic Disney love story and is appropriate for all ages.  For more information, contact Skaggs at 304-842-2102.
