Weston –  Featuring the daughter of comedy legend and West Virginia native Don Knotts, comedy troupes from Clarksburg and Charleston and regional stand-up comedians, the West Virginia Comedy Festival March 31-April 1 promises a weekend chock full of fun and frivolity, resort officials announced.

 

Steve Ludwig, director of sales and marketing at Stonewall Resort, said, “Whether you come for a night or the full weekend, the West Virginia Comedy Festival is a very unique event, pairing great regional and local talent with the opportunity to relax and unwind in our full-service, lakeside resort.”

 

Ludwig said the event, which is produced by Clarksburg’s Vintage Theatre Company, features stand-up comedy showcases, live improvisation comedy performances from The Fearless Fools (Clarksburg, WV) and The No Pants Players (Charleston, WV) and headline performances by Marcus Oglesby & BT on Friday night and Karen Knotts, daughter of comedy icon Don Knotts, on Saturday night.

 

Karen Knotts, daughter of legendary comedian Don Knotts (TV’s Barney Fife of Mayberry fame and a beloved icon to Baby Boomers everywhere) has been on tour throughout the U.S. for the last four years with a funny, critically-acclaimed one woman show, “Tied Up in Knotts”.  The show tells her story of growing up with her legendary comedian dad. Karen also performs standup comedy on the road and can be seen regularly at the Comedy Store, Flappers, and the Hollywood Improv.

 

Born and raised on a mountain farm in the hills of West Virginia, Marcus Oglesby is not your typical hillbilly. Marcus' high energy comedy is drenched in the unique perspective of growing up on both sides of society, but reaches far beyond race. He can play any room and reach any crowd, making fans and friends wherever he goes.
