The Fabulous Equinox Little Big Band takes the Robert C. Byrd High School stage on Monday, May 8, 2017, to wrap up the Grand Performances 2016-2017 season. This 11-piece, Savannah, Georgia based band is known for their high-energy renditions of great American classics made popular by Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Elvis Presley, and Harry Connick Jr., among others.  The audience will know the words to every song.

The show begins at 7:30 pm, and the evening includes an invitational art show and sale by local West Virginia artists, coordinated by Georgette Griffith. Featured will be artwork donated to the Cultural Foundation by Daniel and Meredith Rogers of Clarksburg.  They recently acquired a portion of the art collection of Daniel and Ellen White Pollack.  Their appreciation for the arts has led Daniel and Meredith to share this collection with others. Sales from this collection will benefit the Cultural Foundation’s traditional Community Arts Grant program.  Last year 20 Harrison County arts organizations received funding through these Cultural Foundation grants.
The Cultural Foundation is proud to share with Grand Performance season ticket holders and new audience members an evening of music by The Fabulous Equinox Little Big Band.  Audiences all across America have fallen in love with these two sophisticated Southern gentleman – Jeremy Davis “The Kingpin” and Clay Johnson “Mr. Showtime.”  They bring their orchestra and a glamorous, energetic show. Along with the greatest songs, the best original arrangements and phenomenal musicianship, these artists bring their rich friendship and charm to the stage. Fashioned in the style and swagger of the legendary entertainers lead by Frank Sinatra, they put their own stamp on the Great American songbook.  The best of today’s musical technology is graced with a touch of Motown, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Elvis and more, off-ering a freshness and relevance that speaks to every soul.

The Savannah Morning News called them, “One of the hottest tickets in the city.” Their programs include popular tunes such as “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” (Four Seasons), “Crying,” (Roy Orbison), “Luck Be a Lady,” (Frank Sinatra), “Save the Last Dance” (a la Buble) and other great American classics.

This is the fourth and final installment of the inaugural season of Grand Performances.  This new “community concert” series honors Barbara Highland, who grew up here sharing the arts with her family.  Grand Performances is funded by the Barbara B. Highland Fund for the Arts.

With sponsorship by Lisa Lang, owner of About You Monograms, all RCB students will enjoy a mini matinee concert plus discussion with the Band about professional careers in music.   According to Ms. Lang, “My husband and I support the arts and enjoy doing that, especially since local kids will be able to enjoy the performance.”

Tickets for the concerts are available online at www.theculturalfoundation.org or by calling 304-669-7045.
