MetroNews is reporting that Bridge Day, West Virginia’s largest one day festival, is still a go for Oct. 16 at the New River Gorge Bridge in Fayetteville despite some concerns expressed by the festival chair.

The Bridge Day Commission met Wednesday to consider whether the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic should cancel the popular event for a second year in a row.

Taste of Bridge Day, which is held the day before the event, has been canceled. They made their announcement on their Facebook page. It should be noted both events have different boards. Here is their Facebook post of the event set for Oct. 15, the Friday before Bridge Day.

"We are sad to announce that Taste of Bridge Day 2021 has been canceled due to the recent surge of Covid 19 cases in our area. This was a very difficult decision to make, but the health and well being of our community, volunteers, and visitors is more important. We hope to see everyone in 2022."

Another statewide event, this one in Richwood has also been canceled. According to WBOY, the 2021 Cranberry Mountain Nature Center Shindig has been scrapped.
