Visitors to Sunday’s Winter Market at Bridgeport Conference Center got an extra bonus.

 

Happening simultaneously at the Charles Pointe venue was a photo shoot for quarterly, national Gladys magazine. Coordinated by Bridgeport Conference Center Manager of Conference Sales Judi Giffen, also Benedum Festival pageant director, the shoot featured the jewelry of Charles Winston.

 

Various Conference Center locations – as well as the pool area of the Wingate by Wyndham– provided the perfect backdrop for the bracelets, necklaces, earrings and rings modeled by four young ladies, all who wore casual attire as to showcase the jewelry. Models included current Benedum Festival Teen Queen Kathryn Scarbro.

 

Scarbro’s mom, Susan, provided makeup artistry skills. Other members of the shoot’s A team were hair stylist, Tina Ferry, and photographer, Piper Smith Schofield.

 

“Piper is such a great photographer and has so much imagination,” Giffen said.

 

The day started with 8 a.m. hair and makeup sessions and concluded with dinner – and a few photos – at nearby Mia Margherita.

 

It all progressed very smoothly and magazine representatives were quite pleased with the venue, Giffen said.

 

A couple of lucky little girls - 9-year-old Maizze and 7-year-old Gabby, granddaughters of former Bridgeport Mayor Jim Christie – received complimentary hair and makeup sessions and were featured in a few photos. 

 

“They won’t use them for the magazine, but Gladys will post them on their website,” Giffen said. “I think it made the girls’ day.”

 

In fact, everyone involved in the shoot had a great day.

 

“I was so impressed with the models. They’re so sweet and fun and nobody was trying to outdo each other. It was just a bunch of girls having a great time – and that’s so important,” Giffen said.

 

The photos from Sunday's shoot will be featured in the 2014 spring/bridal issue of Gladys. Owner/editor of the magazine is Andrea Patrick Forte.
