Bridgeport Conference Center is the site for a Sunday photo shoot for Gladys magazine.

 

The photos, which will be published in the magazine's Spring/Wedding issue, will feature the jewelry of designer, Charles Winston. 

 

Coordinating the shoot locally is Judi Giffen, BCC conference sales manager. Her ties with the magazine stem from her position as Benedum Festival Pageant director.

 

“I met Andrea Patrick Forte (magazine editor-in-chief) a long time ago and we kind of reunited when one of my pageant girls, Morgan Kesecker, was a Gladys Girl. It started from there and she asked me to get involved with a fundraiser and to model in that show – and it just took off from there,” Giffen said.

 

The fashion show in which Giffen modeled was held in the Pittsburgh area, sponsored by Gladys and to benefit domestic violence services. Funds were also raised through auctions and drawings.

 

Winston, whom Giffen had met while visiting Florida, donated some jewelry pieces for the event. Forte liked the line and decided to feature it in an upcoming issue. Winston's jewelry is high end, but many pieces can be worn casually, Giffen said. Brands include Charles W. Couture and Black Tie Collection, the latter featuring black and white diamonds. Photos from the fashion show are featured in the Winter 2014 issue of Gladys. Models in the eight-page spread include Giffen, Beth McCaugherty, Benedum Festival Pageant assistant director and Kathryn Scarbro, 2013 Benedum Festival Teen Queen. In addition to sporting Winston’s jewelry, the ladies are pictured in formal wear from Oliverio’s Prom & Bridal Boutique, Eastpointe. Scarbro and Giffen are also pictured modeling Minka’s Furs. Style categories include Valentine Fashions, Bridal Valentine, Gatsby Inspired, Royal Fashions and Fashion Furs.

 

Scarbro actually co-stars in the issue's 14-page “Many Shades of Love” spread. Modeling with her is Brent Pacoe. Photos are by Piper Smith Schofield, who will be doing the photo session this Sunday. 

 

Featured on the cover of the Winter 2014 issue is Monte Durham of TLC's "Say Yes to the Dress." Earlier this month, Durham was the featured speaker at the WV Weddings Extravaganza, also held at Bridgeport Conference Center. 

 

Scarbro is also among models to be featured in Sunday’s photo shoot, with which her mother Susan is assisting. Also involved is Stephanie Scarci of Gladys and a yet-to-be revealed model.

 

In each quarterly issue, the magazine features a Gladys Girl. One is chosen annually as Gladys Girl of the Year.

 

“She will be featured in the photo shoot on Sunday, but not announced until the Spring/Wedding issue comes out,” Giffen said.

 

The shoot will feature close-ups taken in various Bridgeport Conference Center spots, as well as the adjoining Wingate by Wyndham. It will be preceded by hair and make-up sessions.
