On Thursday, Sept. 5, members of the Harrison County Commission approved a proclamation to recognize September as National Recovery Month.
Commissioner Mike Romano presented the proclamation to “Celebrate Recovery” at Horizons Church in Lost Creek on Friday, Sept. 6.  Romano acknowledged Commission President Ron Watson, who was unable to attend, before reading the proclamation declaring the month of September as National Recovery Month. The proclamation called upon the people of Harrison County to observe the month with appropriate programs, activities and ceremonies in support of recovery. The Commissioner then presented the proclamation plaque to ministry leader John Eklund and the entire congregation.

The evening continued with a teaching on relapse by Jennene Eklund (ministry leader) and monthly chip ceremony (this is where people could pick up a chip for an area of struggle that they are working on) followed by open share groups.

Celebrate Recovery at Horizons Church is a free program and meets every Friday at 6:30 p.m.  They offer child care for ages birth to 4, Celebration Station for children ages 5-13 and The Landing for teens while Celebrate Recovery is taking place.  Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-Centered 12 Step program for any hurt, habit or hang up.  Through this program they are seeing folks find freedom from addictions, anxiety, anger, depression, codependency, eating disorders, cutting… the list goes on and on.
