About 60 individuals gathered at noon today to join together in prayer. The city's observance of National Day of Prayer was held on the grounds of Benedum Civic Center and was organized by Pastor Robin Ray of Bridgeport Presbyterian Church. Several other clergy members took part, praying for various sectors of the community.

Leading the prayers were Pastor Mike Hopkins, Simpson Creek Baptist Church senior pastor; Pastor Robin Ray of Bridgeport Presbyterian Church, Pastor Jim Lang of Bridgeport United Methodist Church, Pastor Nathaniel Lutyens, Area Young Life Director; Pastor Brad Harris, Simpson Creek Baptist Church Pastor of Administration and Outreach; Pastor Ben Moses, Simpson Creek Baptist Church youth pastor.

There was time after each prayer for personal reflection and silent prayer. The event concluded with the Heritage Christian School Choir singing "God Bless America."
