City Faces in Different Places

Long time Bridgeport resident Carol Schweiker in an art enthusiast and cares about preserving local history.  Please take a moment to meet my friend Carol. 
 
How long have you lived in Bridgeport? 25 years, moved from Lake Floyd.  
 
Where are you originally from? Carol was raised in Clarksburg.  She is a 1956 graduate of WI High School.  She also earned two art degrees from WVU in 1960 and 1980. 
 
Children? Carol has three children.  Kyra, lives at Lake Floyd.  She has two children and operates the Montessori School in Clarksburg.  Alyosha, aka Losha, lives in Morgantown.  He and his fiancé are opening a new music farm campground in Hinton named Cooper’s Mill.  Heather, has two children and lives in Fairmont.  She is an artist and musician.
 
What is your favorite color? Blue
 
Where do you work? Carol is an avid volunteer for the Harrison County Historical Society.
 
Favorite Bridgeport spot? The Bridgeport Farmer’s Market is her favorite.  She loves the camaraderie, atmosphere, and meeting new people each week.
 
Favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport? Carol loves the entire State of West Virginia.  It’s too good to just pick one spot.  The country roads make her happy.
 
Favorite place outside of WV? England because it’s similar to West Virginia.  She loves the rolling countryside, hedge rows, farmland, etc. 
 
Favorite restaurant?  Provence Market but she also likes her own bean soup she makes with spinach.
 
Best childhood memory?  Going to get a turkey with her dad for a holiday.  They came home with a turkey AND a dog.
 
Favorite musical group?   Carol really enjoys listening to Jazz and Classical
 
Hobbies? Painting, drawing and sketching
 
Interesting fact about you?  Carol has been fortunate to build a life around art.  She taught Art at Salem College for many years and was the Director of Fort New Salem for fifteen years.
