City Faces in Different Places

Today was the outdoor opening day of the Bridgeport Farmer’s Market.  I ran into Mike Martin and his family having breakfast.  Mike is a long time Bridgeport community activist and business owner.  Please take a moment to meet my friend Mike.
 
How long have you lived in Bridgeport?  Thirty five years
 
 Where are you originally from?  Mike was born in Anmoore and lived on his grandparent’s farm.  He moved to Clay Street in Clarksburg.  He is a 1974 Notre Dame High School graduate and 1981 WVU graduate with a degree in Physical Therapy.
 
Are you married? Yes, to Kim.  Kim is from Rosemont and a 1978 Flemington High School graduate.  She is a retired nurse. 
 
Children?  Mike and Kim have four children.  Michael, 30, is a 2002 BHS graduate.  He is an author and lives in Bridgeport.  Matt, 28, is a 2004 BHS graduate.  He is a sergeant in the Army and lives in Germany.  Molly, 25, is a 2007 BHS graduate and teaches English at Lincoln Middle School.  Patrick, 21, is a 2012 BHS graduate and currently a student at WVU.
 
What is your favorite color? Blue
 
Where do you work? Mike is the co-owner and operator of Bridgeport Physical Therapy.  He opened the business thirty-one years ago.
 
Favorite Bridgeport spot? His home
 
Favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?  Dolly Sods is a favorite for Mike.  He appreciates the peace and tranquility of Dolly Sods.  It also has an incredible view.
 
Favorite place outside of WV?  Italy because of its food, everything is made fresh daily.  He has a strong Italian heritage and connection to Italy.
 
Favorite restaurant?  Muriales and his favorite dish is chicken pesto pasta.
 
Best childhood memory? Growing up on his grandparents farm
 
Favorite musical group?  Mike has eclectic taste and music and enjoys a variety of artists.
 
Pets? German Shepherd named Bravo
 
Hobbies?  Mike enjoys golf and woodworking when time allows.   He also likes photography.
 
Interesting fact about you?  Mike and his wife started the Bridgeport Challenger Baseball League that is open to seven surrounding counties thirteen years ago.  He also loves being a grandparent to his son Matt’s daughter, Aryanna, age four.
