City Faces in Different Places

Please take a moment to meet this week’s City Face Julie Fulks, sponsored by Higinbotham & Higinbotham:
 
How long have you lived in Bridgeport? Julie grew up in Bridgeport and is 1986 BHS grad.  She moved to Fairmont and later Morgantown to attend college and graduate school. She and her husband, Paul moved back to Bridgeport in 1999.
 
Where are you originally from? Julie was born in Fort Rucker, Alabama. Her father was in the military during the Vietnam War. They moved to Bridgeport when she was three years old.
 
Are you married? Yes, she has been married to Paul since 1993. He is a 1984 graduate of Bridgeport High School and a 1988 graduate of West Virginia University. Paul works as an account manager for Lubrizol Oilfield Solutions.
 
Children? Julie has two daughters, Rachel and Caroline. Rachel is a junior at West Virginia Wesleyan College. She is an Exercise Physiology major with minors in Human Biology and Honors. She is a member of WV Wesleyan’s cross country and track teams and plans on going to graduate school to be a Physician’s Assistant. Caroline is a sophomore at Bridgeport High School. She is a member of the BHS Frontline and concert band. She also enjoys participating in theater, student council, thespian troupe and key club.
 
What is your favorite color?  Yellow
 
Where do you work? Julie has been the school counselor at Johnson Elementary School for the past 24 years. She loves working with children.
 
 
Favorite Bridgeport spot? Julie’s favorite spot in Bridgeport are the trails surrounding the city park. She and Paul walk their dog, Lucky there almost every evening, rain or shine.
 
Favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport? Julie thinks that the WV Wesleyan Campus is very beautiful. She also likes many of the state parks, such as Valley Falls, Seneca Rocks and Black Water Falls.
 
Favorite place outside of WV? Julie loves the North Carolina beaches, such as Wrightsville Beach and the Outer Banks.
 
Favorite restaurant? Gourmet Café and Mia Margarita
 
Best childhood memory? She loved growing up in Bridgeport and playing outside pretty much every day with her sister and the neighborhood kids. They had so much fun riding their bikes, playing in the woods behind their house and going to the Bridgeport Pool. A fun memory was when they rode their bikes through the Hardee’s drive-through and ordered “big cookies”.
 
Favorite musical group? Currently it’s Maroon 5, but she enjoys listening to a lot of different musical groups.
Pets? A black poodle named Lucky.
 
Hobbies? exercise classes (especially yoga), walking at the park and whatever activities her girls are currently involved in
 
Interesting fact about you? Many of Julie’s family members are lefties. She is ambidextrous.
