City Faces in Different Places

By Hannah Edwards on January 27, 2019 from City Faces via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Please take a moment to check out this week’s City Face, Andrea Cooper.

How long have you lived in Bridgeport?  I have lived in the Bridgeport area for my entire life, (22 years)! When I went to college I moved to Shepherdstown, WV, which is about 3 hours away from Bridgeport. I graduated within three years, and currently still live in the Shepherdstown area. However, I still qualify Bridgeport as my home!

Where are you originally from? Born and raised in Bridgeport.

Are you married?  Nope!

Children? I don’t have children of my own, but I am a proud Aunt to my nephew!

What is your favorite color? I tend to lean towards blues or greens.

Where do you work?  I am an entrepreneur so I run my own business of being a Photographer for Andrea Cooper Photography. I absolutely love it because of the connections I build with clients that turn into friendships, along with being able to create my own work schedule. But there is definitely a lot of hard work that happens behind the scenes! There are so many hats you wear working as your own boss.

Favorite Bridgeport spot? My grandma’s house. There have been so many memories created there with family!

Favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?  Douglas Falls located in Thomas, WV.

Favorite place outside of WV? I love to travel and out of the 38 states I’ve visited I cannot stop thinking about Utah. Seriously, I adored hiking in Arches National Park. My next favorite would be Hawaii, due to the beautiful scenery and warm temperatures.

Favorite restaurant? I am always in the mood for Buffalo Wild Wings! Seriously, I never turn it down! But another favorite would have to be a restaurant in Shepherdstown, called Kazu which serves Thai & Japanese food.

Best childhood memory? Playing spotlight tag at night in various friends’ backyards. I’m thankful for our parents that let us run around and create memories outside – as well as dealt with all the sleepovers where we would spend most of the nights talking and laughing compared to actually sleeping.

Favorite musical group? I listen to such a wide variety of music. I enjoy everything from Broadway Musicals, to Country, to Pop Rock. So picking a favorite musical group is very difficult for me! But some artists that are often on my replay would be: Anything from the Musical “The Waitress”, Panic! At the Disco, Queen, Demi Lovato, and Brad Paisley.

Pets? Currently I just have one dog who is a Border Collie and German Shepherd mix.

Hobbies? Most of my hobbies are artistic base, I enjoy painting as well as I have a degree in Graphic Design so I am often working on my computer creating illustrations. But I also really enjoy being outdoors.

Interesting fact about you? I have traveled to Europe twice! I traveled in 2013 with students from Bridgeport High School, and then again in 2017 with students from Shepherd University with our Art Historian teacher. Though both times were amazing experiences, I cannot be more thankful for the opportunity I had in 2017. The experience was so much more meaningful to me in 2017 due to the simple fact; I was more aware about the art world and the history behind works of art. It was breathtaking being able to see the art pieces, in person, compared to talking about them throughout the school year on paper. We saw iconic works such as the Sistine Chapel, the Mona Lisa, and the David. However, a personal favorite was seeing, “The Madonna of Bruges”, a marble sculpture by Michelangelo.
