By Julie Perine on March 07, 2021 from City Faces via Connect-Bridgeport.com

This week's Bridgeport City Face is Julie Northey Lane. Meet her and her family here:
How long have you lived in Bridgeport? If not a lifelong resident, tell me what brought you here.

My Dad was transferred from Pittsburgh with Consolidated Gas to Clarksburg  when I was going into the 2nd grade. My parents had a house built on Millbrook Road when Ray Blake was first developing the area.

Are you married, have kids? Tell me about your family.

Jack and I were married in 1993 in Nashville, TN where his parents lived.  We have been blessed with a large family! We have a Yours, Mine & Ours family of 9 children! (See five of them pictured right). We have 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. (See the whole crew pictured top.) Thanksgiving is our big holiday where we all try to get together.  It can be difficult at times due to work schedules and such.

I am one of four children. We all live in Bridgeport. My mom just turned 95 years old and lives at Golden Harvest Assisted Living.. I am so proud of her! (Julie is pictured with her mom and siblings below.)

What about pets?

We have two dogs. Max is a 10 year old miniature poodle who is connected at my hip! Miller is our 8 yr old teacup Yorkie. At present, he is living the life in NYC with our daughter Emma!

Where do you work and what do you do there?

Jack and I are retired although I am busier than ever!

What are your hobbies/favorite past times?

I love to paint! I have been refurbishing furniture for about7 years. It is my therapy!

Right now I am painting dining room furniture for my neice. You can find my work on Facebook @ Humble Bee.
Favorite Bridgeport spot?

Bridgeport itself! I love walking the streets of our beautiful town. I can see so much when walking and oh, the sounds of birds chirping and children playing.

What do you like about Bridgeport … why is this a good place to live?

I love the hometown feel, the pride people take in where they live, the security, the people. Everything is relatively close in Bridgeport. With the interstate close by, travel to larger cities is convenient.

One – or more – of your favorite memories of something that took place in Bridgeport ...

Oh so many! My 3 siblings and I graduated from BHS along with 8 of our 9 children! Watching our children grow up in Bridgeport with all the activities available brings so many memories to mind. From soccer at 5 years old to Little League baseball to middle school danceline to high school football to graduations at Wayne Jamison Field. Time flies!

What is your favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?

The mountains of WV are gorgeous. The drive to Blackwater Falls is beautiful . Stopping in Thomas to browse the shops and eat at The Purple Fiddle make for a perfect day.

How about your favorite place outside of WV?

We vacationed in Arizona a few years ago. I truly loved Sedona. It's a world of its own.

What are some of your favorite things?

A few of my favorite things are my love of Jesus, family, and home.
Food/restaurant?

I think my favorite restaurants would be Twin Oaks for their pizza,  Oliverio's for their pasta and filets, T&L Hot Dogs for their WV dog, Almost Heaven for their cheesecake and our hometown Dairy Queen for a Blizzard. Can you tell I love food?

Favorite color?

Most people should know this...PINK! I am the only person in Bridgeport with a pink front door and garage door! Pink is on the interior too!

Music genre/artist?

I love Contemporary Christian music.  Hillsong United, Lauren Daigle  and Casting Crowns are just a few of my favorites.

What is your best childhood memory?

Summers at the Bridgeport City pool hold some of my favorite memories. Hanging in the neighborhood with my friends, Barbie Knox and Tammy Lopez playing 45s on my olive green, battery-operated record player!

I started running 5Ks at age 50.
