Rotarians will serve a free pancake breakfast to all participants.

“The blood screening is performed on one side of the cafeteria while participants are eating breakfast on the other side of the cafeteria,” Rotary member and blood screening contact Sarah Moore said. “So, when you arrive at the event, you walk into a room with nurses performing the bloodwork, however there is also a lot of chatter and people enjoying their morning. I think it definitely helps people feel at ease.”

The blood screenings are the only fundraisers the Rotary Club does during the year and the proceeds are used to fund various service projects.

“Bridgeport Rotary loves that we fundraise exclusively by offering these blood screenings,” Rotary member and blood screening contact Sarah Moore said. “Our club is extremely service-oriented so it’s a perfect fit that we raise the money that we use to give back to the community by offering a valued service to that same community. We truly look forward to these events. We have a great time in the kitchen and visiting with all the participants.”

During the last year, the Rotary Club supported such things as the Harrison County Backpack Program, the Medbrook Children’s Charity, the all-inclusive playground being built at The Bridge Sports Complex and the Humble Heroes Foundation.

Moore said the second screening will take place in August.
