GFWC Juniors Hosting Mother-Daughter Tea with Paris Theme

By Julie Perine on April 10, 2015 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

This year’s GFWC Bridgeport Junior Woman’s Club Mother-Daughter Tea will be a virtual afternoon in Paris.

Centered around American Girl Doll of the year Grace Thomas, the April 26 event at the Benedum Civic Center will feature all things French – from photo ops to the arts to a sampling of the language.

In addition to prize drawings for Grace, her French Bulldog and Baking Set, a number of stations will be set up for mom and daughter bonding.

“We’ll have a little Parisian café – good place for photo ops – and a table with cookie decorating with Eiffel Tower cookies,” said event co-chair Clarisa Marra. “We’ll also have a French ballet set up on stage, French music, a coloring station, bingo and even French lessons.”

Bridgeport High School dance students will provide dance instruction and Madam Deanna Garrett of BHS will be offering some instruction in the French language.

Attendees are welcome to bring their favorite dolls to the tea which will take place 1-3 p.m. at the Benedum Civic Center. Admission is $8 per person, which includes finger foods, cookies, tea, crafts and chances for door prizes.

A separate raffle will be held for the American Doll prizes. Those tickets are $5 each or three for $10. It is not necessary to be present to win. Tickets for the American Doll drawings can be purchased at the door of  "An Afternoon in Paris" or by calling co-chairs Anna Matheny 304-669-8254 or Clarisa Marra at 626-487-4426

The annual Mother-Daughter Tea is an event for the community and a way to raise funds to help the community, Marra said. The GFWC Bridgeport Junior Woman’s Club supports a number of local, national and international projects.
