GFWC Juniors to Host Sunday's "Tutus & Tiaras" Mommy-Daughter Tea Party

By Julie Perine on May 01, 2014 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The GFWC Bridgeport Juniors are hosting a “Tutus & Tiaras” Mommy-Daughter Tea Party 1 p.m. Sunday at the Benedum Civic Center.

Attendees are invited – if they so choose - to wear ballerina- and princess-inspired attire to the Tea, where they will be treated to tea, finger foods, cookies and craft time.

Door prizes will be awarded and separate drawings will be held for American Girl Doll of the Year Isabelle, who comes complete with dance barre and case.

For those not familiar with American Girl, Isabelle is a dancer – and the inspiration behind the theme for this year’s annual GFWC Mother-Daughter Tea, said Organizer Krista Arnold.

The event is hosted each May to raise funds to support the club’s many projects. Included is a scholarship, provided annually to a Bridgeport High School graduate.

Tickets are $8 per person and can be purchased at the door. Tickets for the American Girl Doll drawing (one for $5; three for $10) can be purchased at the event or by calling 304-476-8104. Winner does not need to be present.

“The tea party is always a great time for both the mothers and daughters - and who doesn't like an excuse to dress up like a princess and wear a crown or a tutu,” Arnold said. “It's a chance for Mom to play dress-up, too, which I think the little girls will love.”

Little girls are welcome to bring their own favorite doll along for the party.
