YoungLife Holds Move-Up Night; Current 8th Graders Invited to Join

By Julie Perine on May 05, 2014 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

In just a few weeks, current Bridgeport Middle School eighth graders will officially be high school freshmen. Tonight, they are invited to take one of those first steps.

YoungLife’s annual move up night is tonight.

“We do this at the last club meeting of every year,” said Zane Satterfield, an adult Bridgeport YoungLife leader. “It’s just a fun way to get eighth graders excited for their freshman year – getting to move up to YoungLife.”

Some may be members of WyldLife – a feeder program to the faith-based YoungLife. Others will be brand new to the program. All are invited and encouraged to attend.

YoungLife meetings are hard to describe in words, Satterfield said.

“It’s like trying to describe a roller coaster ride. You can say it’s a crazy moment when you’re going straight downhill with your hands up – but you really don’t understand until you’re actually there,” he said.

Following about an hour and a half of games, activities and a featured testimony time of a high school member, the meeting will move on to McDonald’s for post-meeting food.

It all starts at 7:32 p.m. The reason for the odd time, Satterfield said, is to make it more memorable. He hopes to see lots of new faces this evening.

Meetings are held at the homes of YoungLife members. If interested in attending tonight’s activities, please contact YoungLife Leaders Nathaniel Lutyens 304-612-1619 or Satterfield 304-816-1242 for directions.
