ABB Scarecrow Display Coming Soon to Main Street

By Julie Perine on September 27, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

It's that time of year again when whimsical scarecrows - and like creatures - will line Bridgeport's Main Street corridor and greet passersby.

Sponsored by the Associated Businesses of Bridgeport, the Halloween-inspired display has become tradition as ABB members tap into their creativity to design, construct and dress the characters for the enjoyment of community members.

ABB Secretary/Treasurer Melinda Lindsey said year after year the display of creativity is quite impressive. Now in its eighth year, the project is expected to once again garner positive comments. Secured to lamp posts – by assignment from the ABB – the whimsical creatures are inspired by the specialty of the host business, pop culture trends or seasonal elements.

As always, one a scarecrow will be selected as this year’s most creative or impressive display and that business will receive a traveling plaque.

All scarecrows must be displayed by Sat., Oct. 13. The winning character will be determined through a vote poll conducted by Connect-Bridgeport, which will run Oct. 17 through Nov. 1. All scarecrows must be removed by Sat., Nov. 3. The winner will be announced on Connect-Bridgeport Nov. 5.

Owner of About You Monograms, Lisa Lang is heading up the scarecrow display this year.
