By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on September 10, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

While the official start of the annual campaign fundraising for the United Way of Harrison County officially got underway, one of its annual events had to be postponed due to weather. The planned Cardboard Boat Regatta that was originally set for Sunday at Maple Lake was scratched due to the continual and heavy rains.

The race is now set for Sept. 30 and will again be held at Maple Lake. Registration will begin at noon with boats setting sail at 1:30 p.m. The race will feature competition in various divisions: Junior (ages 13-17) individual and team; family, adult, business and not-for-profit.

Prizes will be awarded for fastest boat, people’s choice and most epic sink.

The event is know for creating unique cardboard vessels and racing them in the waters of Maple Lake. The event will also feature kayak and paddle board competitions and a host of activities for kids, including bounce houses and inflatable obstacle course, games, prizes and a meet and greet with characters of the popular cartoon series, “Paw Patrol.”
