In addition to one-direction hallways, masks faces, and random attendance requirements, students in West Virginia are also banned from using water fountains during the pandemic. When Grogg’s Home Services found out about this, they wanted to make a change in order to keep kids healthy, happy and hydrated as they navigated their new normal.

 

Owners Tim and Carma Hanlon and their son, Keith Blair, who owns the Clarksburg branch of Grogg’s Home Services, decided to donate 100 water bottles to each and every elementary and middle school in Harrison and Doddridge counties.  

 

“The schools have installed filling stations for water bottles instead of allowing students to drink directly from water fountains,” said Blair. “We were concerned that some children may not own a water bottle or may occasionally leave theirs at home.  After seeing a social media post where an elementary school was seeking donations, we wanted to step up and help them all.”

 

Throughout September, deliveries are being made to all 13 Harrison County elementary schools and six middle schools, as well as the one elementary and middle school in Doddridge County. Grogg’s pitched the donation idea to administrators at all schools and received an overwhelmingly positive response.  The schools will be responsible for passing out the water bottles to those who need them or forget their own on any given day.  

 

This is not the first time Grogg’s Home Services has helped Harrison County students, families and businesses during the pandemic. Earlier this year, they donated $25,000 in gift cards for small businesses and have also donated mask-making materials and filters.
