BHS Announces Students of the Month for February, Amanda Saymon and Zach Bombardiere

Bridgeport High School’s Students of the Month for February are Amanda Saymon and Zach Bombardiere.
 
Amanda Saymon is the daughter of George and Beth Saymon.  She has been actively involved in several aspects of student government during her high school career to include being Class Historian her freshman and sophomore years, Junior Class President, and Student Government Representative for the past four years.  Saymon is a member of the National Honor Society, and has earned an Academic Letter and Lamp the past four years, taking numerous AP and college level courses.  She was selected as a Homecoming Princess in 2014.
 
Saymon has played varsity soccer and lettered all four years, while helping her team secure a berth in the West Virginia State Soccer Tournament each year. She was a West Virginia High School Soccer Coaches Association and West Virginia Sports Writers First Team All-State selection in 2012. Saymon was also named the BB&T Girls Soccer Athlete of the Year in 2012 and was named to the All-Harrison County and All-Big 10 teams. In addition to playing for Bridgeport High School, Amanda plays for the Mountaineer United Soccer Club Shox and was selected to the 2014-2015 United States Youth Soccer Association Olympic Development Program Region 1U17 Girls Team which will compete in Boca Raton, Florida and Croatia, representing the United States. Saymon will attend West Virginia University in the fall to pursue a doctoral degree in Physical Therapy. She has been recruited by the WVU Women's Soccer Team and has given a verbal commitment to continue her soccer career at WVU.
 
Amanda is a member of Bridgeport United Methodist Church where she has participated in a variety of youth and choir activities.
 
Zach Bombardiere is the son of Patricia and Mario Bombardiere of Bridgeport. He earned his Academic letter his freshmen year and Academic Lamps sophomore, Junior, and senior years. He has maintained a
3.78 throughout high school while taking AP courses.
 
Zach has received a presidential award for outstanding GPA and leadership. He also received the United States Achievement Award for Leadership and GPA. He has had offers to Columbia University for high scores in Math and Science.
 
Zach is a four-year member of the BHS varsity football team where he has started on both sides of the ball since his sophomore year. He plays offensive end and is a starting middle linebacker. Zach has lettered in football all 4 years of his high school career. He received a championship ring for the Double A state title in wheeling of 2014. Zach also participated in BHS JV and Varsity Basketball his freshmen and sophomore year. Zach enjoyed AAU Basketball as well for 2 years and traveled and participated in a Championship in North Carolina.
 
Zach is a member of Simpson Creek Baptist Church.
 
He plans on majoring in Aeronautic engineering and minor in Astrology, but remains uncommitted to a college/university at this time.
