A local organization is hoping to fill an often overlooked need for working people in the community.

On Saturday, October 4, from 10 – 1 p.m., Christian Help Inc., will be holding a grand reopening of their Women and Men’s Career Closet, located at 219 Walnut Street in Morgantown.

The Career Closet program was started in order to provide assistance to working or currently interviewing men and women in the community.

Once a month, area residents are invited to come in and shop for three outfits for work, including shoes and accessories.

Along with clothing for indoor occupations, the Career Closet also offers steel toe and work boots and outdoor clothing for both men and women.

“Our goal is to help those who are struggling with the financial hardship of paying for work clothes and uniforms,” said Closet Coordinator, Alissa Ponzurick who is a 1998 BHS graduate.

Ponzurick says she hopes to reach people from all walks of life through this program.

“We also serve a good number of local college students who just need to pick up something to wear for their career fairs and professional development courses.”Ponzurick said.

“What’s great about our program is that it is available to everyone in the area,” Ponzurick said. “We want to be there for anyone who is feeling the stress of not being able to afford clothes for work.”

After the opening Saturday, the Christian Help Career Closet will be open Mon. – Thurs. 9 – 4 p.m., Fridays from 9 – 2 p.m. and the first Saturday of every month, from 10 – 1 p.m.
