Big Shoes, Big Heart; West Virginia Teen Collecting Large-Sized Shoes for Those in Need

By Trina Runner on October 16, 2017 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

At 16 years old, Christian Creamer’s feet are big, but not as big as his heart.  The Shoals, West Virginia sophomore has recently launched Big Foot Missionary and it has nothing to do with the mythical creature.  He is hoping to collect shoes for children around the state who have a larger than average shoe size and cannot afford shoes that fit.

“I already wear a size 15 shoe and my feet are still growing,” Creamer said.  “I met a boy who wore a size 14 but was wearing a size 12 because his family couldn’t afford shoes for him.  That opened my eyes to a unique need and I am making it my mission that no teenager, homeless person or disadvantaged person who wears shoe sizes of 13 and up will have to go without a properly fitted pair of shoes.”

As word spread of his mission, girls were also in need of shoes above size 9 so he added them to the list as well.  News outlets around the state have featured stories on Creamer’s mission and now he has reached out to the Bridgeport community to help in any way they can.

“Any decent condition used or new shoe in larger sizes is welcome and I hope to start a statewide challenge to collect shoes from sports teams at all levels as well as individuals,” he said.

Creamer’s mom, Tinia, is the director of Heart of Phoenix Equine Rescue in Shoals and has taught her son the importance of helping others.  The homeschooler knows first-hand how hard it can be to find shoes that fit and he is determined to collect shoes from all over the Mountain State and beyond.

For those who have gently used shoes to donate, mail them to P.O. Box 81, Shoals, West Virginia and send an email to let them know they are on their way, how many and what sizes so they can match them to those who need them.  Shoes can also be dropped off in room 205 at Bridgeport High School and monetary donations are welcome as well.  For additional information on this unique mission, contact Christian or his mother at tinia@live.com or follow The Big Foot Mission on Facebook.
