Bridgeport High School Announces Jacob Griffith, Kaylissa Lynch as May Students of Month

Bridgeport High School has announced that Jacob Griffith and Kaylissa Lynch are the May Students of the Month.
 
Jacob Andrew Griffith is the son of Jon and Heidi Griffith of Bridgeport. Jacob was a member of the State Championship Varsity Football Tea m h is sophomore and senior years. He is a member of the State Championship Varsity Track Tea m and was the Regional Champion in Shot Put and Discus his junior year. He is Captain of the Boys Throwers group on the track team.
 
Jacob is a member of the National Honor Society, the Chess Club, and a student member of the Harrison County Reading Council. Jacob has received an Academic Letter, two Academic Lamps, and has consistently been on the Honor Roll.
 
He has been involved in many community service projects, including setting up for the March for Babies Walk, serving meals at the Clarksburg Mission, and distributing gifts for the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program.  Jacob has participated in Shop for Tots, volunteered for the Derek Hotsinpiller Fallen Stars SK Race, and been a student leader at the Harrison County Schools Science and Social Studies Fairs.  He is also a member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church.
Jacob plans to attend Fairmont State University and major in Civil Engineering.
 
Kaylissa Lynch is the daughter of Kimberly and Robert Lynch. She has maintained a 4.0 GPA and above throughout high school and is currently ranked third in the senior class at Bridgeport High School. Kaylissa is a part of both the Student Council and the National Honor Society and enjoys serving the community though them both. She is a four year member of the BHS Danceline and a co-captain of the team that won the 2016 Grand Champion award at the this year’s Clarksburg Rotary competition. Kaylissa is also a part of the BHS dance ensemble. She attends Lifepointe Church in Clarksburg and is a preschool leader for their Kidzpointe program. Kaylissa also loves to volunteer at Stars and Strides therapeutic equine center. In her spare time, you can find her dancing; enjoying a baseball game; volunteering; or just spending time with her friends, loved ones, and her dogs. Kaylissa is planning to attend West Virginia University in the fall of 2016 and major in Speech Pathology and Audiology, also minoring in dance. She plans to continue dancing after high school and dreams of working with autistic children in the future
