Bridgeport High School Announces Jeffers, Jacobs as Students of the Month for March

Bridgeport High School has announced that Abby Jeffers and Jackson Jacobs have been selected as Students of the Month for March.
 
Abby Jeffers is the daughter of Patrick and Missy Jeffers. She is a senior at BHS and has maintained above a 4.0 GPA through taking AP and dual credit courses. She has also earned an academic lamp and letter while attending BHS and had the honor of being a junior usher for the 2019 graduation ceremonies.
 
Jeffers has been an active member of the Executive Board on Student Council for two years a member of the Key Club and Drug Free Club all four years of high school. She has also been inducted into the National Honor Society. Through these clubs, Jeffers has volunteered for several service projects for BHS and the community. Trunk or Treat, helping with bingo at Meadowview Manor, serving dinner at the Mission, Shop for Tots and Bridgeport’s Community Food Drive are some of her favorite projects she has participated in.
 
Jeffers was chosen to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp at Jackson’s Mill her freshman year and Rhododendron Girls State at Davis & Elkins College the summer before her senior year. Her favorite camp she has attended was YoungLife Camp at Rockbridge Alum Springs.
 
She was also chosen as a princess for the homecoming court her senior year.
 
Jeffers has loved dance since the age of three. She was a member of the BHS Dance Line her sophomore and junior years and has danced at Annabel Timms’ School of Ballet (now Studio 9) since fifth grade. She is a two-year member of the BHS Dance Ensemble and one of its senior captains. Jeffers was also a member of the BHS tennis team as a freshman.
 
In her free time, Jeffers enjoys spending time with her family and friends and loves to travel. She also enjoys babysitting for families in the community.
 
Jeffers plans to attend West Virginia University in the fall and study to become a nurse practitioner.
 
Jackson Jacobs IV is the son of Kemper and Erin Jacobs of Bridgeport. Jacobs has maintained over a 4.0 GPA while taking many AP classes, being active in sports and working part-time at Chick-fil-A. He earned his academic letter his freshman year and academic lamp his sophomore, junior and senior years.
 
Jacobs was chosen as a Peer Helper by his peers and attended a training on learning strategies to help his peers in need. He attended the American Legion Mountaineer Boys State where he was a delegate and was the recipient of his cabin’s Americanism Award. He is a member of the National Honor Society where he acts as president.
 
Jacobs played soccer from the time he was five to his freshman year in high school. He played with MSSC for many years and was a member of the BHS varsity soccer team his freshman year.
 
He has run track all four years of high school and was a member of the Class AA state champion team. Jacobs in a two-time all-state athlete in the 3,200 meter run and is also a member of the cross country team where he earned all-state honors in 2018 and 2019 in addition to helping the Indians finish as Class AA runner-up in the team standings this past fall. Jacobs loves running and can be seen running throughout town on a daily basis.
 
Jacobs will attend Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Va., in the fall where he will major in Computer Science and be a member of the school’s cross country and track teams.
