Bridgeport Wildcatters Swim Team Organizing for Upcoming Competitive Season

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on May 22, 2017 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The Bridgeport “Wildcatters” Swim Team season is fast-approaching with just three more days to sign up to participate. School-age children wishing to be on the competitive swim team can register 3-6 p.m. May 23-25 at Bridgeport City Pool. At that time, children will be evaluated and placed in the appropriate group practice time, as well as fitted for team suits. Although swimmers are required to attend at least one of the upcoming evaluation days, they are welcome to come to more than one.

An informational parent meeting will be held 5-6 p.m. Thursday, May 25 at the city pool for any new parents/guardians or anyone who has questions about the season. Among topics will be parent/guardian volunteer responsibilities and the meet schedule. Swim schedules will also be distributed.

The first practice will be Wednesday, May 31 at 7:30 a.m. (Group A) or 8:30 a.m. (Group B).

The first meet will be Tuesday, June 6 against Bridgeport Country Club.

A Stroke and Turn Clinic for BST swimmers will be held 8-10 a.m. Friday, June 2. Swimmers will provided individual attention and pointers on how to improve their strokes and practice their turns. Sign-ups for the clinic will be available during evaluations (May 23-25).The cost for the clinic will be $15 for one swimmer, $25 for two swimmers per family, $30 for three swimmers and $5 each for any additional sibling/swimmers.

This year’s head swim team coach is Matt Chapman. His assistants are Becka Krandall and Tristan Knapp. Parent organizers and coaches look forward to another great season.
