The name Dick Wolf might make one hear the award-winning theme music to his most famous show, Law and Order.  Six years ago, however, he developed Cold Justice, a documentary true crime series that focuses on reopening unsolved murder cases that feature local law enforcement.  Originally, the series was broadcast on TNT, but now it is also on Oxygen and Netflix. Last week, a familiar face showed up on one of the Netflix episodes, with additional footage added showing the arrest of the suspect.

Bridgeport’s Jeremy Daugherty, who is a Corporal with the State Police Grafton Detachment, can add small screen star to his impressive 15 years in law enforcement.  Producers from Cold Justice contacted Taylor County Prosecutor John Bord, who informed them about a suspected murder case Daugherty was investigating.  The show eventually brought a film crew to Taylor County for one week and Daugherty had the opportunity to work with a veteran homicide detective from LAPD and the show’s host, a former prosecuting attorney from Texas.

“We met and reviewed the case and drove all over the state interviewing people who had any connection to the murder suspect and victim,” said Daugherty.

The show, titled “Trajectory,” originally aired in the summer of 2015, but footage was recently added and the episode was re-released with the additional footage this month. Throughout the investigation, the show provided resources such as contact with different forensic experts across the country who provided their expert opinions on various aspects of the case.

“The experience of working with seasoned investigators was very beneficial and will undoubtedly help in future homicide investigations,” said Daugherty.

Season 3, Episode 21 of Cold Justice features the entire story of the homicide and investigation and can be seen on Netflix currently.  The collaborative efforts of local law enforcement and the team from Cold Justice, the suspect was arrested and prosecuted for the murder.
