Change in Game Plan for this Year's Community Food Drive for Shepherd's Corner

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on October 15, 2020 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The GFWC Woman's Club of Bridgeport, the Bridgeport Lions Club and the Bridgeport Fire Department hold an annual food drive to stock the shelves at Shepherd’s Corner. Each year, thousands of food items, as well as cleaning and personal care products, are collected and ultimately benefit area residents in need.

This year’s drive is scheduled for Sat., Oct. 24, but it will operate differently. Rather than representatives of host organizations driving around to pick up donations from residents, the residents are asked to participate by bringing non-perishable foods, personal care and cleaning items to one of two designated drop-off locations.

Between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon, volunteers will be stationed at Oliverio’s Ristorante parking lot on Fifth Street and Lions’ Circle at the corner of Philadelphia Avenue and Johnson Avenue (beside Greer Law Office.)

Items can also be taken to Bridgeport Fire Department (131 West Main Street) or Bridgeport Municipal Building (515 West Main Street) Oct. 19-23 between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
