City Seeks Members for Various Boards and Committees

By Andrea Kerr on November 26, 2014 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Have you ever been asked to serve on a committee at school for your kids or a civic organization in your community and answered, “No, I just do not have the time, or I do not have the education or background to lend to the committee?
The next time you’re asked to ‘get involved’ with your community, ask yourself this question, “If not me, then who?”

When people get involved with their community, a unique diversified background is added to the group providing excellent participation and typically outstanding results.

Should you get involved with your community?

The answer is yes. A community becomes your place in the world that allows you to have a sense of belonging. You have the opportunity to shape the direction your community is headed. Your involvement in your community does make a difference. It strengthens your community. When a community is doing well as a whole, the community members are better off, too. Everyone has talents and skills. Make a positive difference while further developing the skills you have.

The City of Bridgeport has numerous opportunities to get involved. We currently have openings on several boards and in 2015 we will be forming new boards/committees dealing with everything from fine arts to community development.

When you commit your time and effort to a cause you feel strongly about, the feeling of fulfillment can be endless. So what are you waiting for? Get involved in your community. If you are a resident of Bridgeport and are 18 years of age or older, you qualify. Please call Bridgeport City Clerk, Andrea Kerr, at 304-842-8233 or akerr@bridgeportwv.com to find out what opportunities are available.
