Four Bridgeport High School swimmers have made First Team Big 10. The list, just released, includes Bridgeport’s Becka Crandall, Isabella Malone, Haley Fiber and Sean Rhode.

Crandall said she considers the recognition to be a true honor - and it's a very nice way to wind up the season and all the hard work that has gone along with it.

"It's such a great feeling to be named Big 10 First Team," she said. "After all the practices and hours in the pool, it just kind of shows for the work I've put in along with all the other swimmers who made it."

The Indians’ Jenna Soltesz, Devin McIntrye, Tristan Knapp and Harrison Hess were named to the second team.

Other female swimmers making first team are Maggie Miller and Patricia Loughney of Buckhannon-Upshur High School, Samantha Hall and Lauren Cain of Elkins High School, Kelsie Drennan of Fairmont Senior High School, Avery Thrush of Robert C. Byrd and Carley Shingleton of Liberty High School.

Joining Soltesz on second team are Elkins’ Skylee Watson, Skout Barger and Taylor Lee, Fairmont Senior’s Meredith Muller, RCB’s Emily Kroll, Buckhannon-Upshur’s Brooke Newcome, Kailyn Bosley and Haley Williams and Philip-Barbour’s Jordan Bowers and Cheyenne Taylor.

Big 10 Girls’ Swimmers of the Year are Samantha Hall of Elkins and Maggie Miller of Buckhannon-Upshur. Girls’ Coach of the Year is Luanne Miller of Buckhannon-Upshur.

Fairmont Senior landed five boys on the first team. All hailing from FSHS are Taylor Campbell, Ben Stewart, Brandon Ralston, Isaac Kinder and Jeremy Sheppard. Bridgeport’s Rhode and a pair from Elkins High School – Alex Rosencrance and Brendan Cain – join Buckhannon-Upshur’s Corey Johnston and Philip-Barbour’s Bryce McGee to round out the team.

Besides McIntyre, Knapp and Hess, second team includes Fairmont Senior’s Aydan Hansen and Austin Joseph, Lincoln High School’s Logan Minnix, RCB’s Joe Simons, Elkins’ Brian Cox and Buckhannon-Upshur’s Andrew Rapking and Servando Arredondo.
