Local Church to Host Free Tailgate Prior to Home Bridgeport High School Football Games at City Park

Beginning with the first home football game on August 25, students, families and Bridgeport High School fans can be a part of a free tailgate party hosted by the ILFCity Community Outreach team at Fellowship Bible Church.   The group will be hosting the event each home game in the Bridgeport City Park from 4:30p.m. to 6:30p.m.

“We have been working closely with the City of Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Departments throughout the year,” said Adam Felder, who noted the church’s participation in events such as Kids Day and Picnic in the Park this summer.  “As the summer winds down, we wanted a way to continue giving back to the community and we came up with the idea of hosting a tailgate prior to each home football game.”

The event offers a free, safe, option for students and families to connect and hang out prior to the Indians taking the field.  Thursday’s game and the homecoming game on September 30 will include free food, live music and giveaways to the first 100 people.  “We plan to give away free red foam tomahawks to help cheer the team to victory,” Felder said. "Every home game tailgate will include the food and giveaways, but only the first game and homecoming will have the live music."

The ILFCity Community Outreach Team will be on hand throughout the event, offering encouragement, listening and praying for people in need.  “We want to make a difference in the lives of local citizens and offer kindness in addition to food and entertainment,” he said.

No reservations are needed to participate and the tailgate is open to people of all ages.  In the event of a storm, the event will be cancelled but light rain will not stop the festivities.  Additional information can be obtained by contacting the Fellowship Bible Church, located near Hinkle Lake in Bridgeport.
