Stress can trigger over 2000 responses in the human body, many of which can be harmful over time.  Luckily, Bridgeport houses a number of downtown businesses that are committed to showing customers how to keep those responses in check as they host the third Main Street Monday on April 17.

“This month’s theme is ‘Treat Yourself’ in honor of National Stress Awareness Day on April 16,” said co-organizer and CVB Director Michelle Duez.  “The past two Main Street Mondays have been very successful events, bringing individuals and families to the downtown area to enjoy merchant specials, entertainment, and art.  This month, we wanted to focus on the importance of self-care and celebrate our city with specials that reduce stress and replenish the spirit.”

The event will take place on Main Street from 5:30p.m. to 7:30p.m., with discounts and specials offered at various businesses in the area.  Heidi’s Essential Oil Boost will demonstrate the benefits of DoTERRA oils.  Artworks will be offering a 25% off discount on candles and Country Peddler will offer 20% off on everything except Alex and Ani.  The Vintage Shoppe, Almost Heaven and The Sanctuary will be participating with special offerings as well.  Several businesses will be set up in the Civic Center.

Mountain Momma Clothing and Holistic Health and Wellness Center will both be featured during the promotion and, with the weather improving, the addition of My Little Cupcake’s Food Truck will provide the ultimate way to ‘treat yourself.’  Lizards and Lollipops will also be handing out lollipops in anticipation of their grand opening on May 2 as the area's newest children's consignment shop.  Linea Esthetics will be set up in Almost Heaven.

As always, Main Street Monday will have prize drawings and entertainment throughout the evening, along with extended hours at businesses with balloons on them.  The event was started in February as part of the Create Bridgeport+Clarksburg initiative to revitalize the downtown area.
