Meadowbrook Mall Launches The Kindness Challenge to Elementary Schools

By Julie Perine on October 08, 2015 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

During the month of October, Meadowbrook Mall is participating in Bully Prevention Month to help bring the community together and educate people about how bullying affects everyone. Organizers challenge everyone – especially elementary school students – to create a culture of kindness.

“We view Meadowbrook Mall as a social hub, and would like to use our platform to benefit the community and to strive to end the cycle of bullying behavior,” said Robin Urquhart, marketing director. “With hundreds of people coming through our doors each day, we believe we can make a difference in many lives by supporting the cause.”

Elementary schools can participate by following the guidelines outlined below and submitting kindness checklists and any accompanying materials by the Nov. 2 deadline.

One winning elementary school will be the recipient of a SHARK (Students Helping to Achieve Respect and Kindness) patrol kit, along with an assembly during which Meadowbrook Mall – along with Captain McFinn and Coral Rose - will present the kit to the school. The winning school will also receive a 10-foot banner which can be signed by every student pledging kindness and proudly displayed.

To participate in the #KindnessChallenge:

1. Sign up your school by emailing: marketingdirector@meadowbrookmall.com
2. You will receive a kindness checklist for ideas of acts of kindness.
3. During the month of October, teachers and parents should keep track of their child’s acts of kindness and complete the checklist. Please share any posts, videos or photos of something special your child or student has done by posting to the Meadowbrook Mall Facebook Event page titled The Kindness Challenge and using the following hash tags #meadowbrookmall #kindnesschallenge and be sure to include the name of your school your child or student represents.
4. Submit each child or student’s kindness checklist to the Meadowbrook Mall by Nov. 2, 2015.
