Meadowbrook Mall to Launch "Connect Moms" Series May 5

By Julie Perine on April 30, 2016 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Last year, Meadowbrook Mall hosted Mom’s Nite Out to celebrate Mother’s Day in honor of area moms. This year, the mall is holding a similar event - but like a Mom’s love and dedication - it will repeat again and again.

Featuring beauty, fashion, wellness and networking, “Connect Moms” will debut 5:30-7:30 p.m. May 5 at Elder-Beerman court. Thereafter, the series will continue with each session including vendors, demonstrations, timely tips and chances to win lots of prizes.

“The events will be held quarterly and will feature interactive games and contests from various retail partners, plus a wide range of wellness partners – and always food and prizes,” said Robin Urquhart, Meadowbrook Mall marketing director. “We’re very excited to roll this one out.”

Just like the 2015 Mom’s Nite Out, Connect Moms will offer moms a chance to get out of the house for a couple hours to enjoy pampering, beauty, fitness and fashion. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., the first 50 moms to register in front of the Elder-Beerman fashion store will receive free swag bags, while supplies last. All registered moms are eligible to win a cosmetic and skin care basket from Elder-Beerman, valued at more than $400. Various other prizes will be given away that night.

Between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., lots of activities will take place, including a stress-reducing yoga demonstration by Melanie Heckert of Strength, Balance & Yoga and Kissing Contests with a chance to win Kate Spade totes and Walk on Air perfume.  That contest will be accessible at all Elder-Beerman cosmetic counters, here free five-minute makeup rejuvenation opportunities will take place.

At 6:45 p.m., Elder-Beerman will present a summer fashion show, emceed by WDTV reporter/personal fashion blogger Cydney Cooper.

“Cydney enjoys fashion and she is one of our favorite reporters,” Urquhart said. “I believe she has already been to Elder-Beerman to pick out her outfit for the show.”

Prize drawings will be held right after the fashion show. Moms must be present to win.

Also, Kitchen Collection will be offering popcorn samples and hosting a contest for the chance to win a popcorn maker. Yankee Candle will also host a “sniff to win” contest for the chance to win a Scenterpiece warmer. A Connect Moms photo frame will be on hand and attendees will be encouraged take selfies and post them to the mall’s Instagram page for the chance to win mall gift cards.

The event will be held quarterly, highlighting seasonal fashions and presentations/prizes.

“We’ll focus on our stores and try to highlight some stores that have some crossover – like both jewelry and makeup – and we’ll try to bring in somebody different each time,” Urquhart said.

She said the mall is pleased to expand upon last year’s Mom’s Nite Out to host this series of events.

“It went over so well – and we really like the Tuesday is for Toddlers series – so we thought if we spread it out, we could really create something,” Urquhart said. “Families are always looking for something to do in this area – and I’m sure moms are too. It doesn’t cost them anything to come out, see other moms, pick up tips and maybe even win some great prizes.”
