The City of Bridgeport was recognized at the recent West Virginia Municipal League Annual Meeting with an All-Star Community Award for Community Enrichment.

The award was for the Bridge Sports Complex, which features the outdoor facilities and the new $50 million Citynet Center indoor facility. The presentation came at the convention last week in Morgantown.

Several city officials were on hand to receive the honor. City Manager Brian Newton said he was thrilled Bridgeport received the recognition on Thursday of last week.

“I think it’s a well-deserved honor. It recognizes the efforts the Mayor (Andy Lang) and Council put in to have The Bridge built and the commitment to the community,” said City Manager Brian Newton. “It reflects a lot of things from the progressiveness of Bridgeport, the people in the community supporting Council to move this forward, the employees who work often behind the scenes and so much more. It’s a great combination of things that made this award possible.”
