In fewer than 24 hours, crowds will be gathering at the Bridgeport Conference Center to participate in one of the most anticipated fundraising efforts of the year.  The GFWC Bridgeport Junior Woman’s Club’s annual Penny Auction will be starting at the new venue at 1 p.m. on Sunday, with bigger and better prizes and a few changes.

“Our grand prize will be two tickets to fly to Myrtle Beach,” said co-organizer Nikki Bowmar.  “Each year the event sells out and so we are encouraging people to sign-up online prior to the event in order to make sure they have a spot.”

Besides the pre-registration and change of venue, the event will also include free concessions, donated by CEC.  The entry fee will be $10, with kids 12 and under receiving free admission.  The Bridgeport Juniorettes will be holding a 50/50 drawing, donating all the money raised to the Bridgeport Challenger League.

Proceeds from the Penny Auction allow the club to continue helping local families, organizations and programs as well as state and national initiatives that benefit education, conservation, leadership, domestic violence, child advocacy, and the arts.

Those wishing to pre-register can visit www.facebook.com/bridgeportjuniors.  Each pre-registered guest will receive a free cup and additional cups are available for $3.00 each.  There will be a 10 cup limit for the auction and tickets will also be available at the door, but may be limited.

In addition to the round-trip tickets to Myrtle Beach, gift cards, experiences, products and services from all over West Virginia will be up for grabs this year.  The larger venue will allow for more participants to bid on the big-ticket items.
