PHOTOS: Sunday Hinkle and Deegan Lake Stocking

A small crowd gathered Sunday afternoon as Hinkle and Deegan Lakes were stocked with the first of three scheduled truck loads of trout. After settling for a week and aclimating to their new setting, the lakes will open at dawn Saturday, March 18 for the 2017 fishing season. Permits are required for all fisherman age 16 and over and can be purchased for $25 each at the Benedum Civic Center.
Permits are good through February of 2018. More than 400 permits are purchased annually with proceeds going back into the program and supporting the Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department.
The Hinkle and Deegan Lakes fishing area is a tobacco-free facility and no tobacco of any kind is permitted on the grounds, Burton said.
