There was a large police and emergency responder presence at the Meadowbrook Mall Sunday evening after the mall closed at 6 p.m. However, there was no real emergency.

Instead, the Bridgeport Police Department along with the city's Office of Emergency Management hosted an active shooter drill to be proactively prepare for an event those involved hopes never happens.

The event lasted for roughly 45 minutes. Bridgeport Police Chief Mark Rogers said the event went well, thanked those who participated, including the Mall, while also thanking Outback Steakhouse for providing food for those taking part.
