By Trina Runner on February 01, 2019 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Four Bridgeport organizations were recently the recipients of grants given out by the Sacred Heart Children’s Center of Harrison County.  The center is a volunteer-directed foundation dedicated to provide social welfare services to children of Harrison County.  In the past two decades, they have distributed more than two million dollars for the sole purpose of supporting disadvantaged youth.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace Beds, Harrison County Chapter; Bridgeport High School DECA, All Saints Roman Catholic Church and BHS Life League Suicide Prevention Group all received monies for projects that will benefit Harrison County students under the age of 18.  Additional recipients at the quarterly meeting included Clarksburg League of Service, South Harrison Band Boosters, Harrison County Juvenile Drug Court, RCB High School Theatre, and the West Virginia Black Heritage Festival.

For nearly a century, Sacred Heart Children’s Center has been contributing to worthy projects across the county.  The foundation provides funds for warm clothing to area schools and continues to provide avenues in which children can thrive.  Their mission is to instill confidence and courage in children and provide opportunities for Harrison County youth to succeed. The next quarterly meeting will be held on March 5 and additional information and grant requests can be found at www.sacredheartchildrenscenter.org.
