Simpson Elementary 4th Graders Hold Red Nose Comedy Club Lunch to Raise Money for Child Poverty

Simpson Elementary School observed Red Nose Day one day early. Nationally, the campaign to end child poverty has raised nearly $150 million over the past four years. Those funds have benefited children across the U.S., Latin America, Asia and Africa. Collaborating with Walgreens, SES 4th graders raised about $200 Wednesday.

“Students brought $1 and got a red nose to wear,” said Leigha Randolph Trippett, fourth grade teacher. “We had a comedy club-style lunch and students told jokes.”

The idea for the Red Nose Comedy Club was inspired by the NBC comedy special which airs tonight.

Special guests for the SES event were Julia Sabatino and her ventriloquist doll “Suzie” and drummer Jayce Stutler.
