A signature event of Spirit Halloween, the annual Zombie Walk is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20, inside Meadowbrook Mall.

 

“From noon to 7 p.m. that day, people can come get their makeup done professionally by a make-up artist for a $25 donation,” said James Vanscoy, owner of Spirit Halloween and Zombie Walk organizer. “That includes blood and special effects in latex to make them look like awesome zombies.”

 

The Zombie Walk gets underway 7:30 p.m. 

 

"Lineup for the walk is going to be down by the (Cinemark 10) movie theater this year and the walk will take place throughout the mall and out the food court doors to the Sears parking lot for the block party and trophy giveaways - along with pizza and fun," Vanscoy said.

 

The block party will feature live flame jugglers and fire eaters, as wel las a haunted house maze. 

 

The Disney personality "Vampirina" will be on hand to meet and greet kids. 

 

Participation in the Zombie Walk is $5. Every penny raised through all donations benefits WVU Children’s Hospital. Last year, more than $26,300 was raised. 

 

“We celebrate for a great cause,” Vanscoy said.

 

Spirit Halloween operating hours will be the same as Meadowbrook Mall hours: 10 a.m. through 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. through 6 p.m. Sunday.

 

Previously located in a giant tent in the mall parking lot, Spirit Halloween is now located at the space previously occuped by Elder-Beerman.
