Trish Armstead

Trish’s journey with the Arc of Harrison County and her passion for those with disabilities originated in 1986 with Dirt Busters; she was a janitor and her first direct supervisor was an Arc participant. Trish later worked to help individuals with disabilities become gainfully employed. She currently oversees the 130 staff who provide care to 40 Arc participants. Trish is a servant leader. She gives selflessly and ultimately creates a more caring world for the individuals with disabilities; their lives are enriched by her service. Trish is married to Junior Armstead and attends Glen Falls Baptist Church, where Arc participants are welcomed with open arms.

 

 

Rose Clark

Rose says she feels blessed to have served in the nursing community for the past 43 years. She became a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2007 and started working for Health Access Free and Charitable Clinic in Clarksburg in 2008. As you may know, Health Access is considered the health-care safety net for Harrison and Doddridge Counties. She has practiced primary care at Health Access for the past ten years caring for the uninsured and underinsured finding great satisfaction in caring for this community of patients. Rose also serves as a preceptor for nurse practitioner and physician assistant students who do clinical rotations at our clinic.

 

 

Zeny Cunanan

Zeny  is a native of the Philippines and the youngest of seven children. She is married to Roberto Cunanan; they have three sons and three granddaughters. Zeny earned a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from University of Santo Tomas in Manila. In 1995, she attended Harvard University School of Business in Boston. Zeny has served her community generously through numerous charitable organizations. In retirement, her love of travel includes trips to the Philippines to implement humanitarian and charitable projects for medical missions.

 

 

Jamie Hamrick

Jamie is a Bridgeport native and a 1995 graduate of WV State Police Academy. She married John Hamrick in 2001; they have two sons. In 2005 Jamie was assigned to the position of Prevention Resource Officer at BHS. She currently serves on the Harrison County Teen Drug Court advisory board and as Director of Harrison County F.O.P. Junior Police Academy. Jamie’s dedication to her community extends beyond her career; she serves as Eucharistic Minister at All Saints Catholic Church and is a volunteer leader for Bridgeport Wyldlife.

 

 

Donna Hergenrether

Donna dedicated sixteen years of service to the U.S. Air Force. She worked as jet engine mechanic and served in 5 war-time deployments. Donna left service after sustaining injuries in an incident with a Saudi National. A graduate of Fairmont State University, Donna holds degrees in Occupational Safety & Health and an MBA. She is currently an adjunct professor at FSU and is Quartermaster of VFW Post 573. Donna has one daughter and notes, “I have been in 24 countries and have seen much of the world; central WV is the most beautiful.”

 

 

Jeanny Kalaycioglu

A native of Turkey, Jeanny  came to the U.S. in 1953 to join her husband, “Kelly” Kalaycioglu, during his residency at Broaddus Hospital. In 1960, the Immigration Service forced their return to Turkey. Congressman Arch A. Moore, Jr,, got a bill passed allowing Dr. Kalaycioglu to practice medicine in Shinnston, which desperately needed a doctor. Jeanny has been an activist for healthy living by teaching oriental dancing, yoga, and aerobics in addition to appearing weekly on local television to demonstrate exercises. She has served on numerous boards and committees and has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Shinnston for over 50 years. Jeanny has three children and six grandchildren.

 

 

Phyllis Wilson Moore

Phyllis has been a West Virginia resident since 1953 and is married to Jim Moore. As a nurse, she initiated numerous educational programs related to fetal alcohol syndrome, childbirth, SIDS, parenting, diabetes, drug abuse, and menopause. In 1985, Phyllis instigated WRAP Session, a group for writers, readers, authors, and poets. She returned to Fairmont State College in 1990 to study literature and folklore. Phyllis has published works in the genres of fiction, nonfiction, book reviews, literary history, memoirs, and poetry.

 

 

Desiree Poling

A Bridgeport native, Desiree lives in Lost Creek with her husband, Tye Poling. In 2009 she graduated from WVU with a masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Her career is dedicated to assisting pediatric through geriatric patients with communication, social, and swallowing disorders; her areas of specialty expertise are early intervention and alternative communication. Desiree gives generously and passionately of her personal time to animal rescue. Since 2016, she has served as President of LUV 4 Animals, an organization based in Upshur County.

 

 

Joyce Rabanal

Joyce has been a Clarksburg resident since 1973. She is a nurse by training, raised six children, and assisted her husband with his medical practice. Joyce has served our community through the Harrison / Clarksburg Board of Health as well as the Harrison County Senior Citizens Center Board of Directors. Joyce has further represented the interests of seniors through her election to WV Silver Haired Legislature. As a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Joyce has filled various leadership roles in service to her faith.

 

Christy Hardin Smith

Christy lives in Clarksburg with her husband, Bill Smith, and her daughter, Fiona. She is a “recovering” attorney and former Assistant Prosecutor in Marion County. Christy is a political consultant, speechwriter, and journalist. Her written work has appeared in the Huffington Post, and she has appeared on C-Span and CNN. Christy teaches history, civics, and government at Notre Dame High School and serves on the Board of Directors for Central WV Community Action. All of her work in government and politics comes from a social justice perspective, with the Golden Rule guiding her always to try to “do unto others.”
