After working as a part-time administrative assistant under Superintendent Kitty Sapp, Tricia Bombardiere has been named office administrator of Bridgeport Cemetery. Bombardiere takes on responsibilities formerly belonging to Sapp, who recently retired from her position.

“I have trained for her position for two years, starting here as a temp due to shoulder injury,” Bombardiere said. “I really didn’t think I would be here after the shoulder surgery, but fell in love with my job. I became a permanent part-time assistant in June of 2015 and I can see myself here in 20 years – even 30 years!”

Sapp said she is confident Bombardiere will do a great job in her new position.

“(Tricia) is a huge asset to the cemetery and the city,” she said. “They’re very lucky to have her.”

A former hairdresser, Bombardiere said she loves working in customer service and meeting new people.

“Although my position requires meeting with individuals in time of loss, I enjoy providing services that may ease their hearts and minds,” she said. “I look forward to serving our great community.”

On a regular basis, Bombardiere performs data entry, works with monument, marker and lot sales, schedules funeral services and assists families with genealogy research, in addition to various administrative duties and special projects and programs.

“I’m currently working on bringing the healing fields/field of honor project to our cemetery,” she said. “I design upright monuments, grass markers, etc. and work with funeral homes to arrange burial and graveside services.”

In addition to employment at JC Penney and Regis hair salons, Bombardiere has served as office manager at her family business, Bombardiere Plumbing and Heating.

Her husband Mario grew up in Bridgeport and the couple relocated here from Clarksburg 20 years ago. They have two children, 20-year-old Zach Bombardiere, a former Bridgeport High School football player and 11-year-old Alexis, who plays basketball and runs cross-country and track for Bridgeport Middle School. The couple also has custody of their five-year-old granddaughter, Annabella, who plays soccer and attends Simpson Elementary School.

“Mario coaches for (Bridgeport Youth Football) Peewee White team,” Bombardiere said. “We are very involved with our community.”
Since retiring, Sapp has enjoyed doing some traveling.
